When Max Mancini’s skull was shattered in a car crash four years ago, brain surgeons pieced the broken bits back together like a macabre puzzle. The legendary telemark skier from Crested Butte was back on his feet and out of the worst danger within 10 days.
Then came the hard part. It was up to Mancini to piece together a life that was even more crushed.
